The Protogoniomorpha parhassus/Forest Mother-of-Pearl gets its name from the spectacular colouration of the upper wings, in the dry-season, they appear pearly white with black tips and red eyespots. When the wet-season arrives, their wings take on a more greenish-white with a beautiful violet sheen.
