Saint Benedict (480-547) is widely considered the father of monasticism in the Latin Church. He is best known for the Rule of Benedict. This has become an important principle throughout monastic life, even outside Benedictine monasteries. It is a life of communal sharing of all possessions. Central is community work and spiritual deepening. In 1964, Pope Paul VI declared Benedict the patron saint of all Europe.
Fra Giovanni Angelico Da Fiesole (Vicchio (Florence), c. 1395[1] - Rome, Feb. 18, 1455), better known as Fra Angelico (the "Angelic Friar") or Beato Angelico ("Blessed Angelic") was a famous 15th-century painter-frater in Florence during the Italian Renaissance.
