Oreste (in Ancient Greek: Ὀρέστης, Oréstēs) is a character from a Greek myth, son of King Agamemnon and Clytemnestra and brother of Iphigenia, Electra and Chrysothemes. His legend was particularly enriched along with that of his sister Iphigenia. His role as his father's avenger was already known in Homeric poems, although Homer did not mention the episode of his mother's murder Clytemnestra, except for one step in which Nestor, having remembered Egisto's murder, added: "he offered a funeral feast for the Danai, for the unworthy mother and for Egisto the coward".
The Erinyes (in Greek: Ερινύες) are, in Greek religion and mythology, the female personifications of revenge (Furies in Roman mythology), especially to those who meet their family and relatives.
