It is a frozen little world of a periwinkle with ice crystals. The lesser periwinkle is a hardy ground cover for the garden. A brisk night frost with hoarfrost on this plant and the limited light of a grey winter day give it a wholly unique atmosphere of little colour, lots of detail and icy ice crystals. From the discolouration of the leaf edges to the unfathomable depths of shadow. A unique, soothing still life of nature in which there is much to discover. Note that this is a macro photo in which limited sharpness was deliberately chosen to further highlight the details of some of the leaves and ice crystals.
