Ganesha is presented as a sweet, gracious, kind, friendly, humorous, jovial, clever, human and playful, mischievous god who often plays tricks. He is one of the most important, popular, accessible gods of India at all, worshipped at almost every street shrine. He is the son of Shiva and Parvati, with whom he embodies the ideal image of a Hindu family. Of all Hindu gods, Ganesha is the one with the greatest presence and popularity outside India.
He is also revered in Buddhism and Jainism.
