I was greatly inspired by the shape of the garlic flower. They had been out of the ground for a while and were hanging in the sun drying over a fence.
The flowers of the garlic plants had all taken their own distinct shape. Not neat, long stems, but beautiful graceful shapes.....

My name is Carolien van Schie As a Fine-Art photographer, I have a predilection for still lifes and portraits. Characteristic for my photos is the lighting, the so-called Rembrandt light. I love this atmospheric and special light. In addition, I always use warm and natural colours for my photos to create a painterly effect. I look for the things I use for my photos mainly in thrift shops and at flea markets. The older and more worn-out they look, the better!
