Sometimes something emerges on the canvas that you couldn't have even imagined yourself. So did this colourful scene. No plan, no sketch, just pure paint joy and a bit of chaos in my head - the perfect recipe for magic.
These flowers are not neat, not modest. They are wild, fiery and, to say the least, present. As if they are saying to you, "Yes hello, look at me!" And say you do. Bright red, pink and fiery orange sweeps and a background so deep blue you could drown in it. This bouquet doesn't dance to the beat, it bangs the party open.
The vase is my own interpretation of a ginger jar in Delft blue that actually just served as a pen holder in my studio, until I thought, "Hey, you deserve a stage." So hup, onto the canvas with it. A bit of blue floral mess added - done. The pot looks a bit surprised, but hey, it looks nice.
This painting was born intuitively. Not conceived, but felt. Made with the flair of a rock star at a flower festival. It's flower power. It is celebration. It is art with guts. Because let's make life a party.
