In the wild, giraffes are found on the savannas of Africa, south of the Sahara. Giraffes live in herds of twelve to fifteen animals, the composition of the group can change and has a loose structure. Young males leave their herd when they reach adulthood and they then often join a group of bachelors. Daughters do remain in their parents' herd.
