About the artwork

Girl with the pearl earring, painted in the style of Picasso. Girl with a pearl earring is a painting from around 1665-1667 by Dutch master Johannes Vermeer. It has become his most popular painting. Girl with a pearl earring came into the possession of the Mauritshuis in The Hague in 1902.
Description
The painting is not a portrait, but a tronie, a fantasy head. Rembrandt popularised this genre in the 17th century. Tronies were produced in large numbers for the open market. Unlike portraits, the models were almost always anonymous. Like Vermeer's other models, it was never possible to identify the girl.
Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso (Málaga, 25 October 1881 - Mougins, 8 April 1973) was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, sculptor, graphic artist, jewellery designer and ceramist. He was one of Spain's best-known painters.
Cubist period
In Paris, Picasso encountered African and Polynesian sculptures, which inspired him to depict totemic figures and masks in his paintings. Constantly experimenting with new techniques, Picasso worked towards a less naturalistic, more geometric style. A harder and tighter mode of expression and the use of more and thicker layers of paint created an entirely new style: cubism. Together with Georges Braque, Picasso is considered the inventor of this modern art movement.
