I made this image from an elevated vantage as warm evening light moved across the rooflines of Venice. Tiles, towers, and narrow canals reveal a layered city that drifts toward the lagoon. I was interested in how the glow skims the ridges of the roofs and pauses on small terraces, turning everyday structures into a quiet topography. From above the paths of water and stone feel like a woven map.
I worked with a steady support and a careful aperture to hold detail across the frame. Look for chimney clusters, roof repairs, and the faint trace of a canal that cuts diagonally through the houses. I kept color natural so the photograph would live easily with wood and neutral walls.
The mood I wanted is thoughtful and unhurried. For me this picture is about orientation and memory, the way a city makes sense when you step back and let the light explain it.
