I made this view from the docks with a line of blue covered gondolas setting a steady cadence toward Santa Maria della Salute. Evening light softened the facades and the water settled into a gentle surface. I was looking for rhythm without rush, a way to let the foreground lead calmly to the dome.
I used a slow exposure to ease the ripples and a careful focus to keep the pattern crisp. Notice the knots on the ropes, the worn tops of the posts, and a pale trail of color near the horizon. I kept tones balanced so the piece would live easily with stone, linen, and wood.
The feeling I wanted is quiet invitation. For me it is about approach and distance, the simple act of moving over water toward stone.
