On the banks of the Grand Canal lies one of Venice's most iconic spots: the gondola landing overlooking the majestic Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. In this photo, the serene atmosphere of the blue hour comes into its own. The sky colours cool and soft, while the water of the canal takes on a reflective, almost picturesque character thanks to the slow shutter speed.
The row of gondolas, lightly swaying on their poles, forms a rhythmic pattern that automatically guides your gaze towards the imposing church. The façade of the Salute, bathed in subtle evening light, shows its Baroque splendour in all its glory. The combination of movement in the water and stillness in the architecture gives the picture an almost meditative quality.
To the left and right appear the historic buildings of Dorsoduro, whose warm colours contrast beautifully with the cool tones of the water. The photo captures exactly that enchanting moment when the city transitions from bustle to calm - when Venice seems to breathe for a moment, just before night envelops it completely.
This image is an ode to Venetian evening light: soft, dreamy and full of atmosphere.
