Portrait of a Great grey owl , Strix nebulosa.
The great grey owl is often referred to as the Lapland owl but this owl is really different.
The great grey owl lives in northern coniferous forests, while the lapland owl is found in open tundra and arctic regions.
Thus, the great grey owl has a broad, grey head and facial disc but no ear tufts, while the lapland owl has a round head with white plumage and yellow eyes.
