Tips for use

About ‘Gulpen in the snow’ by Nop Briex

The village of Gullepe, Göllepe or in Dutch Gulpen is village located at the confluence of the Geul and Gulp rivers, at an altitude of about 95 metres. The core lies on the south side against the Gulperberg (157 m). The 'mountain' is an offshoot of the Plateau of Crapoel, which ends steeply here. From the southwest, the Gulp valley flows into the Geul valley. Further south, several forests lie on the slopes of the plateau: the Dunnenbos, the Wagelerbos and behind it the Schweibergerbos. To the west, the Osebosch lies on a slope. The north side of the village is built on the southern slope of Beversberg, next to which is Dolsberg (161 m).

Close to Gulpen are the hamlets of Ingber, Euverem, Cartils and Berghem. Surrounding villages are Wijlre, Wittem, Margraten and Reijmerstok.

The winter of 2023-2024 brought a pack of snow that transformed the Limburg green hills into cream pies.
