Loiseau hails from Paris. Initially, he helped in the family business and got a job as a decorator, but after contracting typhoid fever, he decided to become a painter and moved to Montmartre, where he formed friendships with many painters. When he visited Pont-Aven in 1890, he was indirectly influenced by Gauguin through the painters who gathered there. In 1894, he became a contract artist with Durand-Ruel, an art dealer who promoted Impressionism. It was around this time that Gauguin returned from his first trip to Tahiti, and five months before he left for his second trip, Loiseau was directly mentored by Gauguin at Pont-Aven. In 1895, he moved to Moret-sur-Rohan, but like Monet, he loved travelling and painted landscapes of the Normandy coast and other parts of France. At first glance, it looks similar to Monet's paintings, but where Monet depicted nature purely visually as it changes through the effects of light, Loiseau captured nature more subjectively and emotionally. He preferred the light of Normandy to the south of France, and preferred the morning and evening sun to the afternoon sun. In other words, although it does not have a strong, striking presence, it is a gentle sun whose light permeates the atmosphere and envelops life. The delicate and attractive colour scheme expresses the turquoise blue sky, the beautiful pink clouds, the light sky and the light in the water vapour. These are the hallmarks of his paintings.
