Arnhem station was designed by architect Ben van Berkel.
In this photo I took in 't station the strange undulating structure can be clearly seen.
The structure carrying the scaled roof, christened "The Fronttwist" by the architect, is popularly called "The Wokkel".
Arnhem Central Station is the central station of the city of Arnhem, the capital of the Dutch province of Gelderland. The station is an important hub in the eastern Netherlands and in rail traffic with Düsseldorf (D), Utrecht, Zwolle, Nijmegen, Tiel and the Achterhoek.
Moreover, it is an interchange hub for city and regional transport in central Gelderland.
The current station building is the fourth station at that location. This building was completed in 2015.
Arnhem Centraal was the 14th largest station in the Netherlands in passenger numbers in 2016 with approximately 40,000 NS trains boarding and disembarking each day (not counting passengers of other rail carriers).
Nice of you to check out my work.
I like to photograph everything I come across and find interesting. I often edit my photos afterwards with other materials until a new image emerges.
