Hands on Deck stern of a container ship
A sailor on the stern of a container ship. The many containers the lines hanging ready for mooring. The huge stern and the crew preparing the ship for a connection with a tug.
The big container ships and or bulk carriers and tankers and offshore ships. They don't sail without the crew. I like to make the crew visible. The men and women who make sure the ships get safely across the oceans to their destinations. The ports where the ships are manoeuvred and moored at the quays.
The port of Rotterdam full of ships a collaboration between the crews of the various ships and the tugs. The seaman or who takes on the tow rope transfers the throw line to the tug for the manoeuvre to bring the ship safely to the quay.
