Hands on deck land in sight.
I often photograph the crew of all the ships I see entering the harbour. The ships I see sailing in from the piers of IJmuiden or Wijk aan Zee. The crew is often ready to give the tow lines to the tugboats.
Such a large sea ship and the men on deck give an impression of how big a ship really is. This was almost a shot across the bow. Later I photographed the whole ship. I really liked the black and white picture because of the bright light and the gray ship.
Raw and the port as it is the people who work there. The images I see there I like to photograph because it is art in itself. The harbor is a different world. The landscape of the harbor is always changing. The ships, the people and the landscape continue to fascinate me.
