About the artwork
"Happy Sunshine: A Warm Yellow Flower" is a picture of a beautiful warm yellow Gerbera, filling almost the entire image. Only in the corners you can still see the turquoise - petrol colour of the background. This background colour combined with the warm yellow of the Gerbera gives a cheerful warm colour combination.
If you zoom in on the Gerbera, you see that the sharpness in this photo is low. The focus is on the small leaves around the heart. Everything before and behind them gradually fades out. This gives calmness to the photo but also an immediate sense of depth. It makes the image more exciting, I think.
The frame of this photo is slightly different from what you would normally expect. By photographing the flower at an angle, a diagonal stem comes into view, creating a sense of movement. In addition, the heart of the flower does appear roughly in the middle. The petals are only partly in focus. This is something I like to apply, making the image more filled and exciting than bringing it nicely centred fully into focus.
This work could hang beautifully in a waiting room, kitchen, dining room or study. But this work would also look great above the sofa in the living room!
