Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.

HAVANA – THE GATEKEEPER

You don’t always notice them.

They sit somewhere in a doorway, on a flight of stairs, against a façade that has been part of the street for decades. They almost seem to blend into their surroundings, as if Havana has slowly absorbed them.

But they are there.

Perhaps they belong to this city just as much as the weathered walls, the tall doors and the stone steps.

A modest spot is sometimes enough.
A bit of shade.
A chair, a bag, a few cigarettes.

And a whole day still to come.

Yet, without perhaps ever having consciously chosen to do so, they have been given a purpose. Their presence makes a place feel lived-in. Not fenced off, not guarded, but simply present.

A sort of silent symbiosis between people and the city.

The city gives them a little shelter.
They give the city a human presence.

And perhaps that is enough to make someone with less honourable intentions think twice. No security guard. No police officer. No lock. Just someone sitting there. And perhaps that is the finest form of security there is: not because you’re doing something, but because you’re there.
