A very elderly old woman walks slowly down the alley of a small Sardinian mountain village. Her heavily bent walking posture makes her appear headless. The dilapidated house walls and ancient cobblestones give the scene a bleak, gloomy and poor atmosphere. The abstraction of the colour values into classic black and white creates a timeless, mysterious, fabulously monstrous pictorial statement. The broken, uninhabited house facades give the picture an antique, Sardinian charm. The photographic image was taken with my Nikon D90 on 27 March 2006 during an island trip by car on the dreamlike, legendary and mystical island of Sardinia. The moment in time is a historical testimony of Sardinian culture. Those who love time travel will find truly magical encounters and deserted places on the Italian island of Sardinia.
