Early in the morning a group of Great Egrets stands together in shallow water, the sun rises behind them and places them in a white background. It seems as there is a great emptiness behind them. The light colour nuance of the water makes it seem as if they are on the edge of the world and if they would take a few steps further that they can disappear into infinity. The photo was taken on the way back home from a working visit to Eastern Europe. Usually at the start of a photo session I have a clear picture in mind what I want to work towards. Especially if I know the area and if I know what to expect. However, during this photo trip I had little prior info and actually I was prospecting for later photo sessions. I take photographs by feeling. In the first place where I started photographing I could not achieve infinity in the photo. The background disturbed too much. By only moving up about ten meters I got to the right angle where I could use the early morning light to create a high key where the subjects were not overexposed. I am convinced that nature lovers appreciate this photo.
