One of the most beautiful historical attractions in IJsselstein is the old town hall on De Plaats, at the junction Utrechtsestraat and Weidstraat. William of Orange had the town hall built around 1560 with a financing of 1300 guilders. The town hall was built in the Dutch-Manneristic style. Over the centuries it has undergone various transformations. It was restored in the 70s of the 20th century and returned to its original state.
