About ‘Hot-air’ by Onno van Kuik
This picture was taken during a hot air balloon ride over Nappa Valley in the United States of America.
A hot air balloon rises because the air inside the balloon is warmer, due to the giant flame from the gas burners, than the cold air around it. And since warm air is lighter than cold you rise.

As a video editor, I spend all day moving images and telling stories. That is precisely why I find it so inspiring to capture it all in a still image.
I really like macro photography, a whole new inspiring world opens up when you can look at everyday subjects so closely. I also spend a lot of time with my camera in nature. Nothing is as beautifully made as what nature itself builds. And, of course, the camera is always with me when I travel as well.
