Laskarina 'Bouboulina' Pinotsis (Greek: Λασκαρίνα 'Μπουμπουλίνα' Πινότση; 11 May 1771-22 May 1825) was a Greek naval commander, heroine of the Greek War of Independence in 1821, and reportedly the first female admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy.
Bouboulina, as she was henceforth called, was wealthy at the time, as she suddenly became the owner of shipyards and a merchant fleet. In 1821, when the War of Liberty broke out, she had her merchant ships converted into warships (including the Agamemnon over which she personally commanded), and used them from 1821 to 1824 in all kinds of naval battles against the Turks. She commanded during the siege and liberation of Nauplion.
