In the west of Iceland lies the amazingly beautiful Djúpalónssandur Beach. I took many photos there, but I had to be careful because the waves sometimes rolled high and violently across the beach. I was lucky enough to capture one of those wild waves with my camera just as it made a surreal curl. It looks like a small benign dragon spitting out water rather than fire. And the dark rock in the foreground looks like a big scary troll trying to swallow the sweet little dragon. Totally in keeping with Iceland's fairy tales and sagas.
There is a great contrast between the dark rock in the foreground and the light sea in the background.
