In this drawing of Paris, Haussmann's geometric street pattern is projected onto a disdyak traicontahedron. In the center, the Seine coincides with the Pont Alexandre III. More than 250 monuments can be identified. From this center, four oppositions can be found, from one side of the illustration to the other:
1. From the modern Grande Arche de la Defense (upper left) to the historic Place de la Bastille (lower right), the so-called "axis of Paris.
2. From 'day' (top) to 'night' (bottom), incorporated into the regular tessellation (and also symbolic of Paris as City of Light);
3. From the Chateau of Versailles (symbol of the Ancien Regime) to the Place de la République (symbol of the Revolution with a statue of Marianne).
4. From the sunken Louvre pyramid (art and culture) to the upright statue of Foch (politics and military)
This drawing is well suited for waiting rooms, receptions, meeting rooms and counters of hotels, hospitals and convention centers. It arouses curiosity, creates initial conversation and manages to captivate people for longer than 1 minute.
