About the artwork

The ink mushroom, also known as the inkycap mushroom, is an intriguing fungus belonging to the genus Coprinus. This mushroom is known for its unique appearance and distinctive life cycle. In its early stages, the cap of the inkycap mushroom has a distinctive cone shape, but as the mushroom matures, this shape changes dramatically.

What makes the ink mushroom so special is the fact that its cap begins to decompose into an inky substance once it reaches maturity. This process is accelerated when the mushroom comes into contact with rainwater or if the environment is humid. The inky liquid contains millions of spores that are dispersed to form new fungi.

The ink mushroom thrives on rotting wood and nutrient-rich soils. You can often find them in groups along forest edges, gardens and lawns. Despite their seemingly simple life cycle, ink mushrooms play a crucial role in the ecosystem by contributing to the decomposition of organic matter.

When observing ink mushrooms, note the changes in their hat shape and the distinctive black ink they produce, making them a fascinating part of the world of fungi and mushrooms.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
