Japandi Pets: Stylised Labrador and Siamese in Earth Tones" by Angelique van den Berg

Serene Duo – Modern Minimalist Colour Block Pet Portrait Bring calm, style and a subtle love of animals into your home with this modern, minimalist linen-look artwork. A beautifully stylised portrait of a dog and a cat coming together in perfect harmony. Thanks to its warm, earthy colour palette, this piece fits seamlessly within contemporary design trends.

This unique digital artwork distils the classic friendship between dog and cat down to its very essence. Inspired by colour blocking and minimalist figurative art, the composition is built from clean, flowing geometric planes:

On the left is the powerful, soft silhouette of a Labrador (or retriever-like dog), rendered in warm shades of cream, sand and apricot. On the right, an elegant Siamese cat gazes into the room, characterised by its recognisable dark- 'points' s and striking, minimalistically stylised blue eyes. The work utilises a carefully curated palette of on-trend colours. The background is divided into vertical bands of terracotta orange, deep forest green and warm ochre yellow. This creates a beautiful contrast that enhances the animals’ calm tones.
By omitting details such as fur textures and complex shadows, a serene image is created that radiates tranquillity, yet makes a clear statement through its strong forms.
This work strikes a perfect balance between modern graphic design and warm homeliness. It embodies the popular Japandi aesthetic (a blend of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian comfort) and fits perfectly into minimalist, modern bohemian or organic-modern interiors.

The ultimate eye-catcher for the style-conscious animal lover. This artwork looks right at home above a bouclé sofa, in a sleek bedroom, a Scandinavian hallway or a modern office where tranquillity and design take centre stage.
