Jekabs Kazaks (Riga, February 18, 1895 - Penza, November 30, 1920) was a Latvian painter. His work was influenced by expressionism. In 1916 he travelled to Moscow for the first time, where he became acquainted with the work of the post-impressionists and was particularly impressed by the new movement of Futurism. Later, under the influence of his friend the painter Jāzeps Grosvalds, he would work mainly in an expressionist style, sometimes with primivist characteristics.
