Da Vinci's Last Supper shows a light-skinned, dark-blonde Jesus. As Jesus' parents came from Nazareth, he will never have looked like this. In my reinterpretation, Jesus' skin and hair may therefore be darker. The disciples and the background are only black and white and surrounded by a clear frame. Because the Last Supper before Jesus' crucifixion was exactly once. That is over. What is celebrated in churches today is a very crude echo of it. Jesus' Last Supper: an exclusive gathering. 12 disciples & Jesus. The problem today is that many churches also think they have to hold the Last Supper exclusively. There are those who are entitled to take part (e.g. through church membership, baptism, confirmation, age, freedom from sin) and those who are not allowed to take part or only "half" (in the form of a blessing but without bread and wine).Jesus, however, is a frame-breaker, even if some churches are still lagging behind here. With Jesus, everyone is invited. Jesus did not exclude anyone during his lifetime, nor does he do so today.the banqueting table is infinitely large, free of charge and open to everyone. There is far more than a host sticking to the palate and a sip of dry wine. Above the feast is a wide-open heaven full of love and grace.
