I had been sitting camouflaged for some time at the edge of a patch of forest near the Azewijnse Broek, when at one point two kestrels caught sight of me, after which they repeatedly performed diving flights on me. This struck me as quite extraordinary, if only for the fact that I had never experienced this before. After a while, the "attacks" subsided and one of the falcons sat down on a branch behind me to rest, namely this kestrel female. There she sat for at least twenty to thirty minutes before taking to the skies again. They did not attack me after that either and my presence was tolerated.
