In modernist visual art, kissing women are understood as an expression of love, desire, friendship, solidarity or resistance to heteronormative expectations. However, kissing women can also be seen as a critique of the objectification and sexualisation of women's bodies in art history and media culture. Kissing women can also be interpreted as part of a queer aesthetic and politics that challenges gender boundaries and norms and celebrates alternative identities and ways of life. I simply enjoyed the beautiful motif and had less profound thoughts. What do you think?
