The interchange is a mix of three interchange types and is also not flyover in all relations. The A13 comes from the north and ends on the A20, which passes under the interchange. In fact, the end of the A13 is an exit to Rotterdam. The relationship from Gouda to The Hague and vice versa run with direct flyovers, while the connection from Hoek van Holland to The Hague is via a turbine arch. The interchange has four levels, at the bottom the sunken A20, above it the roundabout to the underlying road network, over it the extension of the A13 to Stadhoudersweg and on top the flyovers from north to east and vice versa. The interchange is tight and complex, partly because of the integrated slip roads. The connecting A13 and A20 count 2x3 lanes on all branches. However, the A20 counts only 2x2 lanes through the interchange. Around the interchange are some of the most congested road sections in the Netherlands.
