About ‘Koetje | Alone’ by Atelier Maartje

My eldest daughter used to have a cuddly toy that went everywhere with her. It was a little grey and white giraffe that she affectionately called Koetje. We’ve been through a lot with Koetje.

To honour Koetje, her bond with her, and the brave things she undertook together with Koetje, I wrote a little book for her. It eventually became a small children’s book measuring 10 cm x 10 cm, containing a little poem and four illustrations.

Koetje Alleen is one of the illustrations. The original work is an A4-sized drawing, created using my favourite materials: watercolour and black ink. The colours used in this work are light blue, dark green, light green and grey.

Self-taught, intuitive, artist Ma-art-je had wanted to go to art school, but her life turned out differently. She eventually graduated as a graphic designer, but went to work in healthcare. The urge to create remained and so, after years of experimenting with materials, she intuitively developed her own style. She prefers working with black ink and watercolour, but also makes paintings with acrylic paint. Sometimes she uses seeds and herbs to add textures to her…

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
