Kukeri are costumes that people in Bulgarian villages don to chase the bad spirits out of the village. The suits are made of sheep and goat hair and are handed down from generation to generation. One of the best places to see this traditional event in Bulgaria is Eleshnitsa, not far from the winter sports resort of Bansko. In this village, the kukeri walk through the village during Orthodox Easter.
