I made this photograph during blue hour with a glowing street light set against the calm edge of the lagoon. San Giorgio Maggiore sits across the water like a quiet anchor while gentle color holds the sky. I was drawn to the way a single light can suggest direction without force, a small compass at the start of a long walkway.
I used a slow shutter to soften the surface and a careful focus to keep the metalwork crisp. Watch for a faint shimmer beneath the lamp, the rhythm of moorings, and a pale band of color that leads to the island. The palette is restrained so the piece pairs well with modern interiors.
