As early as 1965, the Fulvia was used in motorsport, particularly in rallies - initially with production models, then increasingly with factory support.

The "HF" versions (especially from the 1.3 HF and later the 1.6 HF "Fanalone") were developed specifically for rallying:

Lightened bodywork, Perspex windscreens, kerb weight of only 830 kg
Revised suspension
More power: initially 130 hp, most recently 158 hp and 5-speed gearbox in the 1.6 HF
Great drivability, especially on tight, winding roads

The Fulvia 1.6 HF with the large additional headlights and the red and black factory paintwork - a true classic.

Motorsport successes of the Fulvia
The Fulvia was Lancia's breakthrough in international rallying:

Rally Monte Carlo 1972:
➤ Victory with Sandro Munari & Mario Mannucci - against strong competition from Porsche and Alpine.
➤ This was a historic moment and suddenly made Lancia famous in the rally world.

The Fulvia was not the fastest, but it was extremely reliable, precise and driver-friendly - and often unbeatable in tough conditions. As far as the registered FIA races from 1965-1980 are concerned, there were almost 800 entries in professional motorsport.
