The red rocky Tatacoa Desert is a 330 km² desert in Colombia. Located in the northern part of Huila province in the valley of the Río Magdalena, about 40 km north of the provincial capital Neiva. The Tatacoa desert is a unique location in Colombia with otherworldly sand formations in many shades of red and grey. This desert is actually a dry tropical forest where wind and rain made odd shapes in the soil.
