The wild lapwing flower (Fritillaria meleagris) is a bulbous plant from the lily family (Liliaceae). The flower has purple chequered petals. Sometimes the petals are creamy white. The plant has a tender stem with narrow leaves, which die off a few months after flowering. The plants take eight years to come into flower.
The wild lapwing flower is a very rare bulbous plant in the wild in the Netherlands, but also occurs as a marquee plant.
