The Larsbreen is right by Longyearbyen, the city park or recreation area, so to speak. Shortly after Nybyen, you climb up and the Arctic silence is right around you. The Larsbreen is also changing, the ascent looks different than before. We walked through the central meltwater drain, which was scenically very exciting. A small canyon in the ice, steeply cut into the glacier, with various moraine deposits nicely visible in the glacial ice. A cross-section of an active glacier.
