The port of Bonhomme is already bustling with activity early in the morning. At the trailer ramp, tractors drive back and forth with flat-bottomed boats, which are launched there to go to the oyster farms.
The oyster port is at la Guérinière, on the side of the côte de Bougneuf, which is the narrowest point on the island of Noirmoutier: barely 500 meters. The port consists of a handful of oyster huts, some of which have become sales outlets and tasting rooms. The port is home to only a small proportion of oyster and mussel producers, most are located in the polder.
