About ‘Light falling on the São Bento platform – Porto, Portugal’ by Bob Slagter

As a photographer, I’m always on the lookout for the perfect interplay between architecture and natural light. This shot, taken at the historic São Bento station in Porto, Portugal, captures precisely that magical moment when the morning sun breaks low through the iconic Victorian canopy.

The deep, dramatic shadows draw your gaze along the platform towards the tunnel. The light, combined with the architectural elements and the rustic railway tracks, creates a powerful, atmospheric statement on the wall, adding depth and warmth to any modern or industrial interior.
