In the semi-darkness of a weathered wooden barn, an owl sits still and alert, looking straight at me. Its large yellow eyes catch the incident light and seem to see right through you. The rough boards of the barn form the perfect backdrop, full of texture and character, while the owl itself is small, compact and intensely present. This moment felt like time stood still for a moment, a gaze full of wisdom and curiosity captured in a split second. For me, this is the kind of nature photography I love, intimate, unexpected and full of detail. The little owl, so typical of farmland, fits perfectly into this setting and almost seems to blend into the woodwork. Yet its eyes steal the show, direct, sharp and unforgettable.
