A mystical and magical place in the centre of London!
This is St Dunstan-in-the-East. Since 1971, the churchyard and the ruins of the church of the same name have been a public garden. It's not really a "lost place", even if it looks like one: The remaining walls of the church are overgrown with plants and create a very special atmosphere and beautiful scenery that you wouldn't expect to find in the heart of London!
The church was built in the 13th century and was destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666 and in World War II. Only the tower remained intact after the first reconstruction.
The garden was deliberately planted with vines and climbing plants by landscape gardeners to give the ruins this appearance.
As a picture, it is an eye-catcher in any room!
