A picture of two fishermen on a small fishing boat in the Sulu Sea. They are sailing near the Palawan archipelago in the Philippines. The photo was taken from a boat (bangka) further out on the water.
The photo has something empty and melancholy about it. But at the same time brings space and calm. You can look out endlessly across the sea, where nothing is present except the fishermen. The fishing boat is the only thing that stands out against the smooth sea.
How do you look at the image? Do you feel emptiness? Do you wonder what the fishermen are doing or what they are waiting for? Or, on the contrary, do you get the feeling as if something menacing is hanging under that surface of water, ready to break through?
The picture continues to capture my attention again and again.
