About ‘Lovely weather, skipper!’ by Bert Oosthout

"Lovely weather, skipper!" is an oil painting by the Dutch marine artist Bert Oosthout. The original measures 120 x 180 cm. We see a turbulent ocean, with spray being blown from the crests of the waves, obscuring the view. The sun is doing its best to pierce through the mist. The atmosphere is dramatic and dynamic due to the contrast between the dark waves and the light of the sun or moon on the horizon.
Details: The artwork captures the texture and movement of water.
The inspiration for this painting was drawn from the storms the artist experienced during various ocean voyages.
