Low afternoon sun on a wintry day in the Johannes Kerkhoven Polder. It is an area of the Dollard reclaimed in the years 1875 and 1876, located in the municipality of Eemsdelta in the northeast of the Dutch province of Groningen. The nearest town is Woldendorp. Until 1990, the polder belonged to the municipality of Termunten. The area is characterized by its emptiness, space and silence. A quiet road with here and there a row of four trees reinforces the desolate feeling in this vast landscape.
