The F-4 Phantom is an iconic aircraft which has been in the service of the Greek Air Force (Πολεμική Αεροπορία, Polemikí Aeroporía) since the '70s, but which is slowly entering its final years and perhaps even months if the latest expectations are correct. The currently flying F-4E's have been upgraded to F-4E AUP standard, with modernised cockpit, armament and self-protection equipment, but are nevertheless now being replaced by Dassault Rafales and Lockheed-Martin F-35 Lightning's.
Knowing that this could well be of the last flights through the Greek low-flying areas, it was a very spectacular experience to see this F-4 diving into the valley and continuing to follow the contours of the valley. All the details of the aircraft are stunning to see, as is the concentration of the pilots on board watching and using their maps to find their way.
