Man on a journey

by Bernhard Karssies

In these surrealist works, we find people on a journey. Often unrecognisable and, at first glance, strange figures, frequently with their faces covered.

Discovering the world on this journey – a strange, surreal world that makes you question what you are seeing. The colours red, black and white lend these images a somewhat strange, surreal atmosphere. These works exude an air of mystery.

Where is this journey heading? Where do they want to go? Where are these people?

Questions you ask yourself when looking at these works. But what beautiful images they are, precisely because of the use of colour and the bizarre surroundings. A lovely reason to share your own travel stories and experiences.

Black, white and red – this use of colour further emphasises the already somewhat strange surroundings and mysterious people. Walking through no man’s land, through a meadow or rural landscape, or perhaps through a city. Or a backdrop that leaves it up to you to work out where these travellers actually are.

In short, these travel stories set in a somewhat surreal black-and-white-and-red setting will continue to amaze you, and the veiled faces will keep the questions coming
